SNAP Eligibility Rule
As mentioned in the last newsletter, the Trump administration has proposed a new rule for calculating Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program eligibility. Known as Categorical Eligibility, this rule would result in thousands of people losing access to food assistance. If implemented, NDBN expects that the burden on diaper banks and food banks would increase as families sought philanthropic resources to meet their most basic needs.
NDBN is working with our national partners in opposing this rule and will submit a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in opposition. Our national coalition is also asking for as many letters against this proposal as possible in order to show the widespread opposition to this rule.
