The Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank has partnered with Allegheny Health Network to launch the Hospital Diaper Program, a pilot of the National Diaper Bank Network. The project, launched here in October of 2017, provides a supply of diapers to mothers of newborns upon discharge from Forbes Hospital, Monroeville.
The moms also receive diapering tips and other materials about child development, along with a list of local WPDB partner agencies where families in need can get additional diapers.
“We want families to get the best possible start on a lifelong, rewarding journey together. The partnership with the diaper bank reinforces that commitment in such a positive and nurturing way,” said Mark Rubino, MD, president, AHN Forbes Hospital.
AHN expects to roll out the program in 2018 at its other hospitals that deliver maternity care – West Penn and Jefferson in Pittsburgh and St. Vincent in Erie.
